Congratulations to Brady W., the 2020 Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley Youth of the Year!
Each year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley selects an outstanding young person to receive its local Youth of the Year Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs. This award recognizes commendable character, academic achievement and outstanding volunteer service to a member’s Club and community.
Brady has been a member at the Chippewa Falls Boys & Girls Club since 2016. He has a passion for art and for helping others. The Club helped Brady through some tough times and also helped him realize that other people shared similar experiences.
The Drama Matters program at the Club helped Brady, because he was able to express his feelings through different art forms, such as film making. He was also selected to be a junior staff member at the Club. This gave him the opportunity to help staff with different tasks, including cleaning, and helping youth members with homework, problems, etc. His time as a junior staff helped Brady realize he wants to be a teacher. He said he loves learning, and wants to be a role model, and encourage others.
Brady is very passionate about combating bullying and promoting inclusion of others. As a teen member at the Club, he makes sure members are always included, whether it be during an art program at the Club or a game at the park. Brady said that his time at the Club have made him feel like an equal, and he wants all other members to experience that same feeling.
