2018 Youth of the Year Representative - Keon

Keon has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club – Chippewa Falls Center since the Club opened in December in 2012. He credits the Club for keeping him on a positive path even when things around him were pulling him away from the positive Club influence. Keon began experiencing with drugs and alcohol to deal with some of his struggles and began coming to the Club less and less. During this time, he was suspended from school, which caused his use of drugs and alcohol to intensify. It was during these times, that Keon needed the Club the most as he soon recognized the negative influences were beginning to take over his life. It was then that Keon turned back to the Club for help. Slowly, through the efforts of the staff, life began to take a turn for the better again. As Keon states, “The staff at the Boys & Girls Club really cared about me, even when I was not choosing the best path for myself. They held me accountable and really cared about me and never gave up!” His time at the Club kept him away from those negative influences and eventually helped to regained his vision back on the path to his great future. Keon is like a big brother to many members here at the Club and many look up to him. He hopes to continue to work with youth even after his Club days are over as his experiences at the Club has lead him to a passion of working as a teacher.

Please help us in congratulating our June Member of the Month,

Carter G.!

Carter is 11 1/2 years old, and has been attending the Club since 2017. Throughout the school year and into this summer, staff has seen carter grow in many ways. Carter is always willing to try new things in programming, and is always very helpful with staff. Staff loves to see these qualities in Club members!

Carter comes to the Boys & Girls Club because he likes to play Xbox and pool. Carter also loves structured outdoor activities at the Club, like playing kickball and football at Allen park, and going swimming at the public pool.

Carter's favorite program at the Club is Keystone. Keystone is a program that focuses mainly on community service. Carter's group recently wrote letters to soldiers who are overseas as part of a Keystone program.

Carter said that the Club has helped him achieve better grades in school by giving him time to work on his homework, and staff to help him if he has questions. Carter said that he usually does not have enough time at home to get his homework done if he is not at the Club. Carter thinks that the best part of the Club is the wide variety of programs, because there are always games to play and fun things to do.

Please help us in congratulating Carter G. !

Meet our Advisory Council Member of the Month

Jamie Leibrandt!

Our Member of the Month is Jamie Leibrandt! Jamie is the Senior Vice President at Northwestern Bank and has been a member of our Advisory Council since 2014. Jamie was drawn to the Club because he has a passion for helping children. When Jamie first joined he was amazed at how many kids used the Club. Jamie said, “The more involved I became the more I witnessed how powerful the positive impact on the kids was. The club provides the members a safe environment and helps give them the tools to succeed. These kids are our future and the club helps them achieve their dreams.”

Jamie’s favorite Club event is the Great Futures Dinner. He enjoys that this event is focused on the members and the community gets to interact with the kids. He believes it is a great reminder of the Boys & Girls Club is so necessary for our community.

When Jamie is not working or volunteering at the Club, he loves spending time with his wife and 5 children. Year-round his wife and him are privileged to attend numerous school, music, community, church, and sporting events. He also enjoys spending time in the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Thank you, Jamie, for making a difference in the lives of so many youth in our community! We truly appreciate all you do for the Boys & Girls Club!
