A member who struggled with getting attention at the Club recently chose to work on a math fraction worksheet during power hour. With the help from staff, he became engrossed in problem-solving and learned that he was very good at finding common denominators and adding fractions. He found his superpower!
Now when he runs into the staff in the hallway at school, he challenges them “fractions tonight?! Bound and determined, after working on the same worksheet for a week, he completed it with a sense of accomplishment, pride, and a smile. He has now switched his attention-seeking from negative to positive, feeling that sense of accomplishment. With more empowering opportunities and amazing mentors, we will continue to build those bonds that keep kids moving forward, and have a sense of “I can do this”! At the Clubs, we continue to Build Great Futures, one fraction at a time.
