Anthony has been coming to the Club for a year and is full of energy and life. He loves to interact with the staff and other members, but when Anthony first started attending it was clear that he was behind his other classmates in school, especially when it came to reading. We connected with his teacher and family to see what we could do to support him. He has made improvements, but this fall it became clear to us that Anthony was having a hard time seeing things. When working on Stride during PowerHour, our homework time each day, he could only see things on the screen if we zoomed way in. We mentioned this to his family and suggested a trip to the eye Dr. might be helpful. While they agreed they seemed a little overwhelmed so we reached out to the school and asked if they could assist the family in getting something set up. A few weeks later Anthony showed up in a brand-new pair of glasses! He loves his glasses and we have already seen amazing improvements with his reading both at the Club and at school.
I love that the Club gets to be an integral part of the system in the community that helps families, and we are so grateful for the partnership we have built with the schools in Chippewa Falls. We all came together to support Anthony and his family and we are able to see the benefits.
