Disney Publishing announced a new initiative to encourage kids and their families to spark or rekindle their love of reading. The company donated one million books to Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley received over 13,000 books to distribute to our four clubs. Kids could go in and pick out the books that they wanted to bring home with them! The total of in-kind would be $137,349.50! Our outreach with all four sites would total 8650 kids!
We were also able to give to local area school districts to help other children have the chance to get books to kids for summer reading.
“We are always gratified to be able to get books into the hands of Club kids and kids served through our community partners. We are so grateful Disney chose to make this generous donation through Boys & Girls Clubs,” said Director of Operations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley, Roxie Schmidt.
